Summer School 2018- Week 1 Day 3

Today's insect was Cicadas.

The children were very surprised to find that cicadas are eaten in some countries.
None of the children said that they would like to try it one day.

The children learned that cicadas can live underground for up to 17 years but only have a short life once they come above ground.

The children are familiar that cicadas make a very loud sound but they didn't know that the cicadas were making the sound to find a "friend."

For art, the children were taught to make cicadas out of origami paper.

During the morning hours, the children took a short walk to the log house.
Along the way, the children noticed that they can hear the cicadas.

They had a great time at the log house running, climbing and sliding.

Here are the pictures from today.

The children were asked to make a maze using Lego blocks and see whether the battery-operated "insect" will go through it and come out from the other end.
She did a great job making her maze.
After learning how to make a cicada, many friends tried it again without any instructions.

 "I can hear the cicadas!"
