Summer School 2018-Week 1 Day 1

Welcome to Summer School!!

The children came to school with big smiles and ready to have fun.
Even the new friends adjusted very well and soon were making friends.
Although the day started with some sudden rain, the sun came out just in time for Pool.

Our theme for the week is Insects.
For the first day, we talked about the difference between an insect and a bug.
They all learned that an insect has three body parts: a head, a thorax, and an abdomen.
They also learned that insects don't have bones like us but have a hard shell around them called exoskeleton.
The students enjoyed learning about ants as well.

Here are the pictures from today.

The children learned that ants live in a colony.  Here they are creating their own ant colony.

Some of our younger friends build their own ant.
Then we went outside to look for some ants.
You might not see it well but the kids had the ants crawling on their arms.

He found a hole in the ground and saw some ants coming out of it.  Did he find an ant colony?
When we returned, the children were asked to draw an ant accurately.
The children couldn't wait to dive into the pool!
I wonder what insect we will be talking about tomorrow...
